THE MYKOLA LYSENKO INTERNATIONAL MUSICAL COMPETITION

The Mykola Lysenko International Musical Competition Mykola Lysenko International Musical Competition was founded in 1962 by joint energies of famous Ukrainian artists: composers - Andriy Shtogarenko, Levko Kolodub; prominent singer, professor Yelizaveta Chavdar, pianists - professor Yevgen Rzhanov, grand daughter of the composer, professor Ariadna Lysenko.

During 40 years of existence the Competition became a prestigious musical forum in Ukraine. Till 1992 it had status of National Competition and was held in different cities of Ukraine (Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv, Odessa, Zaporizzhya).

In 1992 the Competition became International Competition. In programs of participants of the Competition works of Lysenko and other Ukrainian composers are performed obligatory along with classical repertoire. Every time academic contest turns into musical holiday with bright national face.

Mykola Lysenko International Musical Competition is not only creative contest, bitterness of defeats and joy of victories; it is also a forum of musicians of various generations, exchange by experience, definition of prospects of further development of performing mastery.
